The big news is that the contractors W S Lusher & Son are now on site and at work on the first phase of our restoration project. . They expect to be here for 4 months till late November, and will have re-built two buttresses, repaired the chancel roof, installed new drainage and soak-aways to take rainwater from the chancel and put in guttering under the thatch on the nave roof.
We still have some bat issues to resolve, and our war of attrition carries on against the Japanese Knotweed (what a horrible destructive plant) which is getting perilously close to the chancel, nearly close enough to scrunch the new drains
While work is in progress the church will be closed while unattended, for safety reasons.
BUT, despite problems … it’s happening, we’re under way!
